Our Pastor - Jeff Sherwood
Jeff Sherwood was born in Greenport, L.I. New York in 1951. He was raised in a
Christian home and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at age 13. Upon
graduation from Greenport High School he pursued studies at The King's College
(earning a B. A. in History in 1973) and Dallas Theological Seminary (graduating
with a Th. M. in 1977).
While seeking God's provision for full time ministry, Jeff started a wallpapering
business along with teaching Bible Studies for single adults. It was during this
time that he met his wife Linda. They were married in 1979. The Lord brought two
special blessings to the Sherwood family in June 1982. Their first daughter,
Jennifer Lee, was born (6/15/82) and Jeff joined the pastoral staff of Grace
Bible Church in Dallas. Jeff was Associate Pastor of Christian Education and the
Career Ministry for five years. He pastored the single adults of the congregation,
had oversight of the children's and adult C. E. programs and worked closely with
a staff of three other pastors. In the midst of this ministry, their second child,
Kathryn Joy, arrived (7/16/84). In 1987, Jeff left Grace Bible Church to become
Interim Pastor of Community Bible Fellowship, a small rural church in Van Alstyne,
Texas. He served there for almost one year before accepting the invitation to
pastor Bacton Hill Bible Church. He began his ministry here in August 1988.
Jeff delights in teaching the Word of God, relates well to people and enjoys life.
